Heritage Armor Revisited

I had posted about Heritage Armor several times and the last time I was still missing some of them.

Just logged through all characters (one per race) and apparently after posting about Humans I had already done Undead, Troll, and Draenei… and probably got all the Allied Race ones when I dinged max level.

According to the Warcraft Wiki only Dracthyr is missing one now.

Also just noticed the latest version of the Catch-up gear thing let’s you do “I’ll decide later” and not forgo the chance. About time, but thank you Blizzard devs.

    Human Heritage Armor

The Heritage Armor for Orcs and Humans came out in 10.0.7 in March and I had only done the Orc one (and liked it a lot). Today I had time and remembered that I was still missing the Human one. Can’t say how long it took but I liked it. If my Human character had been any other class than a Rogue I might even transmog it, but maybe I can use some parts…

When I last made a consolidated list about all the races in February 2020 there were still some missing, especially as I hadn’t leveled all Allied Races to max level, but if I am not mistaken now it’s these:

    • Troll
    • Undead (should be in the next Patch)
    • Night Elf (should be in the next Patch)
    • Draenei

    Heritage armor status update

Wrote about this in October and July, but about the the full picture only in May, and so this is a consolidated update:

    • Horde
      • Blood Elf – DONE
      • Tauren – DONE
      • GoblinExalted: 86 Warrior
      • Orc (not ingame) – Exalted: 120 Rogue, 120 Shaman, 120 Hunter
      • Troll (not ingame) – Exalted : 120 Warrior
      • Undead (not ingame) – Revered: 120 Mage (-18600), Honored: 102 DK (-30100)
      • Mag’har – Level 96
      • Nightborne – Level 49
      • Zandalari – Level 40
      • Highmountain – Level 36
      • Vulpera – Unlocked, no character yet
    • Both
      • Pandaren (not ingame) – ???
    • Alliance
      • Dwarf – DONE
      • Gnome – DONE
      • Worgen – Friendly: 120 Druid (-38938)
      • Human (not ingame) – Exalted: 120 Rogue
      • Night Elf (not ingame) – Exalted: 120 Warrior, Friendly: 120 DH (-38000)
      • Draenei (not ingame) – Friendly: 74 DK (-36500)
      • Kul Tiran – Level 84
      • Dark Iron – Level 41
      • Lightforged – nearly unlocked
      • Void Elf – not unlocked yet
      • Mechagnome – not unlocked yet

    So the concrete goals are:

    • Mag’har Rogue – 14 levels – yes, actively working on it
    • Kul Tiran Mage – 26 levels – yes, prio 2
    • Goblin Warrior – 34 levels – maybe…
    • Worgen Druid – a lot of rep – maybe…
    • Nightborne Priest – 61 levels – probably, just did a few dungeon runs again
    • Zandalari Paladin – 70 levels – probably, but more slowly
    • Highmountain Warrior – 74 levels – meh
    • Dark Iron Monk – 69 levels – meh

I just started running some 1-2 dungeons per day when fully rested on all the Allied toons this week, but it’s tedious. Also I had a really long break of over 2 months. Rogue is fun and no problem, Mage is coming along ok but it’s slowing down and it’s simply not much fun. Can’t wait for 110 there. Undecided if I’m up for this massive rep grind on the Druid.

    Heritage Armor: Ironforge

No huge progress in WoW but I’ve been chipping away at the two 8.2 factions to unlock flying. Paladin is at 8.1k/12k in Nazjatar and Rogue is at 8.2k/12k in Mechagon.

Also did a Heroic Warfront with my guild before they were raiding yesterday. Was fun to play with them (instead of only talking) for a change and I also got a nice 430 Helm, but overall… it was like an easy and annoying raid boss. Not a fan.

    • Worgen Druid now had 75 Mining/117 Herbalism thanks to flying some circles near Stormwind (prep for Darkmoon Faire quests next month) – also why are there so many more Herbalism nodes?
    • Dwarf Shaman finished WoD and is 100 now
    • Finished the Gnomeregan rep grind on the Gnome Rogue and the Ironforge rep grind on the Dwarf Paladin (Shadow Labyrinth + Hellfire Peninsula dungeons ftw) – now just 20 levels to go for the Rogue…
    • Unlocked my 2nd Heritage Armor: Ironforge

    Heritage armor revisited

When I wrote about Heritage armor a month ago I assumed something which I now think is wrong (see last paragraph). So let’s assume the requirements are “Level 120 and Exalted with your faction”.

    • Horde
      • Orc (not ingame) – Exalted: 120 Rogue, 120 Shaman, 111 Hunter
      • Troll (not ingame) – Exalted : 120 Warrior
      • Tauren – Exalted: 102 Druid
      • Undead (not ingame) – Revered: 102 Mage (-18600), Honored: 102 DK (-30100)
      • Blood Elf – Exalted: 111 Warlock, Revered: 110 Priest (-9300), 102 Paladin (-17000)
      • Goblin (not ingame) – Revered: 86 Warrior (-73, really)
    • Both
      • Pandaren (not ingame) – ???
    • Alliance
      • Human (not ingame) – Exalted: 114 Rogue
      • Night Elf (not ingame) – Exalted: 120 Warrior, Friendly: 120 DH (-38000)
      • Dwarf* – Revered: 120 Paladin (-10300), 82 Hunter (-20000)
      • Gnome (8.1.5, soon) – Honored: 90 Rogue (-26000)
      • Draenei (not ingame) – Friendly: 61 DK (-36500)

*: The 120 Dwarf Paladin started at Honored today, but I invested like 3h and brought her to 10700 Revered, doing all of Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, and 90% of Wetlands for a total of nearly 25k. Also one run of Gnomeregan for the quest rep, and all this with the +10% Darkmoon Faire reputation buff. The first 18k went smoothly at ~8-9k per hour, Wetlands wasn’t so fast, that was only 6-7k in one hour. Still not complaining. Not sure if Arathi makes any sense now or if I should spam dungeons with my Ironforge Tabard, but I really want to get this armor as I’m really annoyed that I don’t get any for my 3 most played Horde characters, which by chance happen to be Orc, Orc, and Troll.

I will probably level one of the 110 Blood Elves soonish, probably the Warlock anyway, so this should be no problem. The Human Rogue will again be 120 without armor available. For the Tauren Druid I’m sadly in no hurry, and the Gnome is lacking 30 levels and a ton of rep and is also not on my main server, won’t happen soon 🙁

    Heritage Armor

Thought about how I stand in regard to attaining the Heritage Armor for all races, once it comes out. So I made a list, I seem to love lists for MMOs.

    • Horde:
      • Orcs: done, 2 at 120
      • Trolls: done, 1 at 120
      • Tauren: nearly done, 1 at 103
      • Undead: ohoh. 1 DK at 102 and a 102 Mage that was boosted to 60 by Refer a Friend, iirc. It’s been a while.
      • Blood Elves: done, 1 at 111, 2 at 102, don’t remember boosting
      • Goblin: ok-ish, 1 at 86
    • Both
      • Pandaren: ok-ish, 1 at 92
    • Alliance
      • Humans: done, 1 at 112
      • Night Elves: done, 1 at 120, don’t remember boosting
      • Dwarves: ok-ish, 1 at 91, 1 at 80, don’t remember boosting
      • Gnomes: ok-ish, 1 at 90, don’t remember boosting
      • Draenei: nope, 1 at 20, 1 DK
      • Worgen: unclear, 1 at 73, don’t remember boosting and one 120 (boosted to 110)
    • Allied Races
      • Mag’har Orcs: 1 at 28
      • Highmountain: 1 at 20
      • Nightborne: unlocked, no char
      • Zandalari: unlocked, no char
      • Dark Iron Dwarves: unlocked, no char
      • Kul Tiran Humans: 1 at 22
      • Lightforged Draenei: not unlocked
      • Void Elves: not unlocked

So if we tally this up:

    • 5 races done
    • 1 race done in a few hours
    • 5 races in the 7x-9x bracket (few more hours)
    • 7 races (potentially) at 20-28
    • 2 races not started
    • 2 races not unlocked

I’d say this kind of sucks for someone who was already kind of spreading races around, has 15 chars at 110+ (and 3 more at 90+) and played the game for 10 years. All just because they introduced rewards for something arbitrary 13-14 years after launch. I know it’s silly but I feel reminded of when they introduced achievements and we got credited for all sorts of stuff, unless you were doing a lot of PvP and all the Battleground data wasn’t there. Sure, rank 11 with 0 WSGs won…

Just checked all my blog posts and some chars. Apparently I did have a Level 90 boost at some point in Legion and I don’t remember using it. But I only have a Level 100 boost on my account. Either that one got upgraded or I must have used it, but on who? I can mostly rule out my Horde toons on my main server. Right now the info points to “Level 90 boost got upgraded” as I blogged about boosting my Dwarf Pally to 100, not 90, and the reputations also point to that.

Addendum: If going off this MMO-Champion post which reads “Players with maximum-level (120) blood elves or dwarves who are Exalted with their faction” then I might not be so much out of luck, because then Undead und Worgen would just be the reputation (in addition to Legion+BfA leveling), for Draenei the DK would be eligible (if it ever reaches 120). But some of the “done” and “nearly done” above need to be changed. Guess I’ll have to wait for some confirmation and then change the above.

    Patch 10.1.7 goals and stuff

So, not too long after we finished the Raid on Heroic my WoW subscription ran out and I didn’t renew it at first. We had still planned to get 2-3 people who had missed the kill the achievement, so at the start of September I was on standby, if there were enough people to raid I’d use my token and resub, otherwise waiting. The 17th looked like it might happen but I had to bow out due to RL on short notice, but they didn’t end up killing the final boss again. So today we extended and had 16 people and after a few wipes it worked. I’m amazed I could remember the fight after 5 weeks.

I had actually claimed my token yesterday because I was a little bored and wanted to play WoW again, after that little break, and I also didn’t want to miss out on the Trading Post if I am honest.

So yesterday I didn’t even play that much, but I managed to finish the Trading Post, do the last 3 Zereth Mortis achievements I was missing for the final achievement, caught up on nearly all of the story quests from 10.1.5 and 10.1.7, did the Valdrakken weekly and some WQs and today did some Dragonriding achievements, finished the Niffen weekly and did some digging.

All in all it was quite nice and I had fun, but now I’m already a little unsure how to continue. For the first time I’m not burning to level my Horde chars (not even my old Rogue main), I’m only missing two of 13 classes to 70 (Priest and Evoker) and it feels a little pointless to do stuff on alts at the moment, except for some Profession stuff on 2-3 of them, but only what is useful for the whole expansion lifecycle and not just this patch/tier. I’m totally not in the mood for M+ right now and so I don’t think I’ll do the grind to KSH or KSM as I had originally planned. (I’ve deliberately put off doing the Night Elf & Undead Heritage Quests as they count for the Trading Post, so either I’m saving some time by doing them in October or at worst lose nothing either.)

Now I’m not sure I have a lot of real goals left for this 5-6 week stretch until the next raid opens, maybe some achievements but I’m not enthusiastic. Then again it’s also not that I’m eager to play something else. FFXIV was fun but I’m currently not inclined to resub, Cyberpunk 2077’s new patch sounds cool, Baldur’s Gate III and Starfield are fresh and somewhat interesting, but I dunno. When I’m not really in the mood for any game I suppose it’s a safe bet to stick to something I know and that I could buy with ingame gold. I know I’d be angry if I bought Cyberpunk now and stopped playing again after 10h, even if it’s on sale.

    Patch 10.0.7

This week the kinda huge 10.0.7 WoW Patch landed. A new zone (that I would have expected in 10.1) with a grindable BiS Ring, some fancy new old Zul’Gurub gear, and Heritage Armor for Humans and Orcs.

There’s one peculiar feature in the new (endgame) zone where you need Bind-to-Account keys and can open doors in a Vault (around 25 per week) with a few easy puzzle elements (e.g. find Fire Ward to be able to go into the fiery room) and you get around 20 special gems that a) clutter your inventory and b) can be upgraded so you’ll have your BiS ring with up to iLvl 424. Anyway, you get 6 keys for free and then you need to grind your way through Rares and chests in the zone, or you run your alts through the story and send your 6 (or maybe 8 if you found a few rares) to your main. Long story short, I managed to open all doors to the vaults (i.e. around 52 keys) on my 2 important chars today around noon by grabbing the extra keys from 4 other toons and doing some rares. The downside is that I maybe can’t complete the weekly Accord quest now on all of them, but I only need to grind out 1 key per toon if I didn’t yet finish it. Maybe that was a little too easy, but why not use the fact that you have 8 max level chars already? Unfortunately Blizzard messed up the tuning a bit so the people who upgraded their gems early in the reset now had to switch, so I’m waiting until shortly before the raid to upgrade – but I already know it’s better than one ring each even before upgrading.

Then I wanted to check out the Zul’Gurub stuff as that was my first proper raid in Vanilla (not Molten Core like for most people), but it seems you need to be 70, so I did the Orc Heritage Armor quest on my Orc Rogue instead. It’s fantastic! And the rewards also look good. Kinda curious how the Human quest line will be, but I guess I’ll not be as involved as I never really mained a Human character.

    Shadowlands goals

During the run of WoW’s 9.2 patch cycle (let’s call it the Zereth Mortis season) I ran quite a few chars through this daily zone. I mean, I also did a lot of other things, raids and M+, and so on – but for some reason I wanted to see this campaign done on all classes, and get my 265 Belt Legendary as a reward. Also the world boss dropped some items (better for Cloth and Plate, worse for Leather, worst for Mail) and with the Sandworn Relics you could buy low-level Tier pieces (or to be more exact, 246 items that could be converted to Tier pieces of the same level). Some hotfix patch just before Season 4 made them Bind-to-Account, so on Friday I could finish the last pieces.

    • One character per class (and faction) to Level 60 – long ago
    • One character per class to Renown 80 – done
    • One character per class completing the ZM campaign and get a Legendary – done
    • One character per class with the 4-set tier bonus – done
    • One character per class unlocking all 6 levels of the cypher – done **
    • One character per class at item level 252 or above – meh, only managed 8 of them

Yeah I know it’s kinda stupid, but I somehow enjoy some mindless grinds, often only 20 minutes after work for a very quick tour. I’d say I’m basically done with the alts for this expansion. We’ll see how Season 4 actually is and how many toons I want to actively play (it’s summer now after all), but I guess it won’t be that many.

    • Raiding: Warrior, unless we do alt runs, then maybe Shaman
    • M+: Warrior and probably Shaman, maybe tanking as Blood DK or Demon Hunter
    • collecting gear: not sure, no plans really.

I’m at 28 Level 60 chars and we have an XP buff running, so maybe getting to a nice round 30 would be an idea.

Maybe I’ll use the Sandworn Relics I have left to finish a few transmog sets, but unfortunately the LFR level ones are all some meh tone of mostly greens. The normal versions look so much better. I think I got all the reputations to Exalted on my main, but there are a few of the covenant special things I haven’t spent a lot of time with, although I’m 2/3 towards Exalted with the Stitchmasters, but I mostly ignored Revendreth and Bastion in that regard. I think I did all quest lines and I definitely unlocked all Heritage Armors that are ingame. I should have all professions at max level once as well.

**: ninja edit: 30 minutes after publishing this scheduled article I actually managed #12. Talk about timing.

    This is Blaugust 2022 – post #2.
